Who else but Nazem Kadri could be on his way?
The Fourth Period’s Dave Pagnotta joined Sirius XM NHL Network Radio with Steve Kouleas and Anthony Steward on Wednesday. He was asked about his report on the Calgary Flames and Nazem Kadri. As activity around Kadri increases, teams are also calling about other players.

Dave Pagnotta: “Well, really, there has been an increase in activity this week around the Calgary Flames, and it’s been floating around (Nazem) Kadri. It’s been floating around (Blake) Coleman.
This week there were reports of teams kicking the tires again. Ottawa, I think Bruce Garrioch had this last night (Tuesday night) about the Senators kicking MacKenzie Weegar in the tires again. That’s something they’ve thought about before, going back to last season as well. And Ryan Lomberg’s name is out there.

Teams have been inquiring about white Zach Whitecloud after acquiring him from Vegas in the Rasmus Andersson trade. There is a lot of activity surrounding the Calgary Flames.
And Dallas is a team that has had interest in a number of Flames. They were previously interested in Andersson. They have had interest in Coleman, a local product, and there is also interest in Nazem Kadri. So we’ll see where this goes.
I don’t know if the discussion is trying to get anything done through the Olympic freeze on February 4, or if it will happen after the freeze is lifted at the end of February, twelve days before the trade deadline. But it certainly sounds like Dallas and Calgary have had those conversations, and Kadri is certainly a point of interest for Dallas.
NHL Rumors.com Note: The The Calgary Flames are a team that many have circled as a seller. It started last year with the Nazem Kadri talk that he suppressed, but they have been arrested again. Many teams want Kadri given his track record as a winner in the playoffs, and not only that, they know how flexible he can be in the lineup. You need him as a second-line center; he can. If a team needs him as a third-line center, he can be that.

But the Flames are still holding out, as reported this summer, and are waiting for an offer they can’t refuse. That offer could be closer, at least by the trade deadline. But Kadri is not the only piece. Teams want Blake Coleman, Ryan Lomberg, Zach Whitecloud and MacKenzie Weegar. But GM Craig Conroy is sticking to his prices. Kadri is open to a trade, but Coleman would like to stay. If Conroy gets his yes offer, all of these players will be gone while the rebuild is underway in Calgary
