Locals are devastated that a family-run Scottish cafe known for its ‘great breakfasts’ is set to close after 23 years.
The popular restaurant is known for serving hearty meals and delicious home baked goods to its customers.

It is also known as one of the UK’s most northerly dining destinations.
The Peerie Cafe has been serving customers in Scrabster, Caithness for decades.
The site is just a mile from Thurso and 110 miles north of Inverness on Scotland’s famous North Coast 500 route.
The Peerie Cafe was opened under the leadership of Ray and Helena Smith in 2002.

The cafe is known for serving all-day breakfasts filled with bacon, sausage, egg and black pudding.
But the family-run store made a shocking announcement this weekend.
In a message that left customers shocked, they confirmed they are closing after more than two decades.
It said: “The Café will be permanently closed from Sunday 16 November 2025.
“Ray and Helen would like to thank everyone FamilyStaff and Customers for all their Friendship and support for the past 23 years.
“We will miss you all.”
Locals responded to the comments, devastated by the news.
One said: “Sorry to hear this, you have served the community well for many years with delicious meals. Best wishes to you and I hope you both have a long and healthy retirement.”
Another said: “Sorry to hear this, Ray and Helen. Your breakfasts were great and the service was always brilliant. Best wishes to you both, enjoy every minute of your retirement.”
And a third said: “I always had a nice breakfast in the rays when I worked on the docks. Great pensioners, you will both be greatly missed.”
It comes after several food and drink businesses suffered on the high street this year.
Last week we reported on a popular restaurant near Glasgow announcing its shock closure.
Bosses in cafe Roma in Clydebank made the announcement social media last weekend.
And a major coffee chain also suddenly closed its very first Scottish drive-thru branch.
