Game 13 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Saw see defending champion Saint Lucia Kings an impressive Run -pursuit against last year’s defeated finalists, Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Ackeem Auguste played a wonderful innings of 73 out of 35 balls to earn the player from the Match Award and see the kings across the line with four wickets with 11 balls left.
The kings put down a real marker in the cricket soil of Daren Sammy, and drag a total of 202/6 from the Warriors in Ice Cool Fashion, she sees the victory to the second position in the table with six points from five games, albeit two of these were abandoned for rain.
The Warriors would be disappointed not to defend a robust totally because they won the throw and chose to hit first, Romario Shepherd plundered 73 out of just 34 balls with four four and seven sixes to achieve a challenging score. The kings did not blink in their response because they had a first defeat of this year’s competition on their opponents.
Tim Seifert and Auguste received the chase to something from a kite after the early loss of Johnson Charles, 86 runs in the Powerplay broke, the back of the total and the reigning CPL champions never looked back from there.
Auguste eventually fell by grabbing the cover sweeper of Jediah Blades to leave his side on 140-4 and still do plenty to do, but the experienced hands of Tim David (25), Aaron Jones (16) and captain David Wiese (10 Not Out) saw the Warriors at home for a message to the rest of the field.
