Aside from the four Canadiens heading to the Olympics – Suzuki (Canada), Juraj Slafkovsky (Slovakia), Oliver Kapanen (Finland) and Alexandre Texier (France) – the rest of the team is now getting a break. They are off until February 17, when training will resume at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard. The next game is scheduled for February 24 at the Bell Center against the New York Islanders.
“It will be great to get away from hockey and not think about anything else,” Montembeault told reporters in Winnipeg. “Just go somewhere, have fun, and I’m going with my family too, so it’s going to be fun for all of us to just get together.”
Lane Hutson goes to Boston to watch his younger brother Cole play for Boston University in the annual Beanpot Tournament.
He is excited about the final part of the schedule, which will see the Canadiens play 25 games in 48 days.
“The good news is we still have a lot of work to do and we’re still finding ways to win,” Hutson told reporters in Winnipeg. “So it’s definitely encouraging.”
