UFC bantamweight Cory Sandhagen has called for a possible UFC White House showdown with Sean O’Malley.
After his loss to Merab Dvalishvili, in which he looked quite competitive, Cory Sandhagen is looking ahead to his future at 135 pounds. There are plenty of fun and interesting fights for him to consider, but one that stands out to a lot of people is Sean O’Malley.
The two men have a fun style, they’ve never fought before, and Cory Sandhagen clearly believes he can beat ‘Suga’. That said, O’Malley could be in line for a title fight against Petr Yan at the UFC White House event this summer.
In a recent interview, Cory Sandhagen made his pitch for a matchup against O’Malley.
Cory Sandhagen calls for a fight with Sean O’Malley
“O’Malley is definitely the guy to fight,” Sandhagen said on an ONX Sports podcast. “Everyone’s talking about that fight. There’s really, I mean, there’s no reason not to do it. I’m coming off a very close fight with Merab, where it was a super competitive fight. Still lost, but it was a very competitive fight. It comes from being finished by Merab – got finished once, but lost to him twice. That’s the fight that everyone is asking for.”
“Yes, I do, and I think Sean would buy into that too,” Sandhagen said. “Because who wouldn’t want to fight? That fight is going to get so many views. Like the last one on Paramount+, which got like 7 million viewers or whatever. Imagine what the White House card is going to bring. People are going to tune in to other sports just because it’s a one-time event. I bet there’s going to be about 14, 15 million people watching.”
