Connor Green defeated the final champion and the second seed on the way to a brilliant bronze medal at the Jeugdtop 10 in Tours, France.
Competition is one of the strongest on the calendar with the top 10s in the respective European boys’ and girl ranking on invited under 15 and under 19 years and then play each other on a Round-Robin to decide the medals.
Groen, seventh, won six of his nine games to finish in third place, including an excellent comeback to beat gold medal winner Nathan Lam of France with 4-3 (17-15, 6-11, 10-12, 6-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-7) in the fifth round.
Green had started the sinking of the fifth seed, Tom Closset van Belgium, 4-3 (14-16, 11-9, 12-10, 10-12, 7-11, 11-8, 11-5) in the opening round and he also defeated second seed Marcel Blaszczyk van Polen 4-2 (9-11, 11-7, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-11, 7-111111111111111111.
The only victory of Green on day two was that excellent performance against third seed lamb, because he was beaten by top seeds Daniel Berzosa of Spain and sixth seed flavio Mourier from France.
But he took care of the bronze medal by winning all his matches on day three against the players that have been arranged among him – Stepan Brhel of the Czech Republic, Antoine Noirault of France and Rafal Formela van Polen.
Lam’s defeat against Green was the only reverse of the event when he finished for Berzosa.
Abraham Sellado also represented England and was arranged as the sixth of the athletes on duty. He won three of his nine games to finish in eighth place.
The undoubtedly highlight for Sellado was a 4-3 (11-8, 12-10, 12-10, 9-11, 11-13, 6-11, 11-5) victory when he held a comeback of the best seed Gorkem Ocal in Turkey.

Sellado missed a match point -possibility in the fifth, but kept his cool to claim the decision maker. Ocal finished second behind champion Francesco Trevisan from Italy, who won all nine of his competitions.
Bronze went to Hungary’s Mark Gergely, who was also defeated by Sellado-4-2 (9-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8) in the second round of competitions. The other victory of Sellado was against the 10th Seed Lukas Wang of Germany.
The girl’s competition under the 19 was won by the third seed Nina Guo Zheng from France, who won eight games and finished 4-3 for fellow countryman Leana Hochart of France of France on the record of Head-Haar 4-3 in the opening round. The under the 15s were won by top seeds Koharu Itagaki from Germany, who won all nine games.
