The Premier League champions dropped two points in the Premier League on Saturday evening, taking a 2-0 and 3-2 lead at Elland Road.
The result put even more pressure on Slot at Liverpool, especially after Mohamed Salah’s shocking comments after the match.
Speaking at his press conference, the Reds head coach believed there were still many positives to be taken from it.
“I think about the two things you just said: the result and the way we conceded the goals,” says Slot said.
“The way the whole game went for us. For me it felt like there were so many positives to take from this game, which has happened to us so many times this season, where you felt like there were so many positives to take away from it, other than the result.”
“Then it would have been nice to achieve that result combined with the performance.
“But not for the first time this season we have conceded goals and dropped points… a VAR intervention leading to a penalty, the first chance they had, which was the 2-2 because the 2-1 was no chance.
“I think the ball is already out, there was contact, so he gave a penalty. Then their first football chance led to the 2-2. Then we had a fantastic attack to [score] the 3-2.
“But what we have to do to score a goal is that we do a lot of things well. Unfortunately, we concede… I wouldn’t say too easily, because we hardly gave away a chance, but if we do, it’s a goal.”
Some basic facts:
• 2 league wins since September 20
• 4 wins in 15 (all compositions)
• Failed to score in the first half in 10 of 15 league games
• Throwing away a two-goal lead four times this season
• 15 wins in last 33 matches (all comps)— This is Anfield (@thisisanfield) December 6, 2025
Strange comments from Slot, who is under fire

Slot acts like a man feeling the pressure, with his comments at press conferences becoming more baffling by the week.
He is a far cry from the unflappable figure who made such an imperious start at Liverpool, with supporters quickly losing confidence in him.
Granted, there were elements of positivity against Leeds, not least Hugo Ekitike’s double, but it was yet another aspect that related to the overall performance.

Once again Ibrahima Konate was at the scene of the crime and handed an unnecessary penalty, and Liverpool’s mental fragility was alarming in the latter stages.
Slot will of course look for positive points, if only to ease the pressure on him, but the brutal reality is that there is little to admire, and that has been the case since August.
With Salah’s comments adding fuel to the fire, Slot is fighting more than ever to save his job, and defeat at Inter Milan on Tuesday night could be fatal.
