Conclusion: No problems to solve with Salah – Football News

Arne Slot claimed he has no remaining issues with Mohamed Salah after the latter returned to the Liverpool squad.

Salah came off the bench to set up Hugo Ekitike’s second goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Brighton at Anfield.

With that assist, Salah set a new record for Premier League goals contributions for a single club, with 277 to his name (188 goals, 89 assists).

The Egyptian was left out of Liverpool’s squad against Inter in midweek due to his criticism of the club and Slot after the Reds’ 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Salah will now head to the Africa Cup of Nations, but Slot insisted his previous comments were now water under the bridge.

“For me there is no problem that needs to be solved,” said the Liverpool boss.

“He’s the same as any player now. You talk to your players when you’re happy or unhappy with things, but there’s nothing I can talk about after what happened after the Leeds game.”

“What was said between the two of us in that conversation remains between us. What you see is what you find out: that he was in the team and was my first substitute.”

“All the other things that were said in that conversation, I never talk about when I talk to Virgil [van Dijk] or Mo [Salah] or any other player. I’ll never tell [the media] what we are talking about.”

Salah cheered the Anfield faithful after a full-time spell, and doubts remain over the 33-year-old’s Liverpool future ahead of the January transfer window.

“He wasn’t the only player who walked across the field to thank the fans, because the fans deserved a thank you from us,” Slot added.

“Our players worked incredibly hard to keep a clean sheet and for the first time in weeks, maybe months, we had a bit of luck.

“Mo is now going to the AFCON. I hope he will do very well and in the meantime we have to play here without him and there are not that many players available.”

“He is a Liverpool player and at the moment he is [here]I like to use it when we need it.”
