Sebastian Korda has recently had a good part of the injury problems, but he bounced back from his newest clinical way on Friday on the Lynk & Co Hangzhou.
The 25-year-old American, who was forced to retire from his first round in the US Open last month, returned with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Adam Walton during the Chinese ATP 250 event. Korda dropped Servee in the opening match, but collected four consecutive games from 3-5 in the first set and fired 20 aces during the 87-minute first round collision.

“It was a tough game. He started great … I didn’t start too well, but I kept my calm as much as possible,” said Korda. “I thought I served very well, and if you serve well, it’s a lot easier, so I’m very happy with the performance today.”
Korda was also sidelined for two and a half months because of a judge shin fracture after Roland Garros and made his return to Winston-Salem, where he withdrew for his semi-final match. In the second round on his Hangzhou debut, Korda then meets the Chinese Wild Card Wu Yibing.
After starting the year as the number 22 player in the PIF ATP ranking, Korda is now number 79 with a record of 15-11 in 2025, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss index. He reached the Adelaide final in January and made the quarterfinals on the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami before injuries hinded his progress.
Australian qualifying match Rinky Hijikata also went on Friday after a hard-fought 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over the fifth seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli-Slechts his second victory of nine matches at tour level this season. Hijikata converted 13 of 17 breaking points to make a second round meeting with Tomas Martin Etcheverry, which will be their first Lexus ATP Head2head collision.
