College Football: Week 14 Playoff Bracket

  • The play-off round remains the same as last week: The exact bracket from week 13 is intact this week.

With less than two weeks to go until the College Football Playoff is announced, the playoff picture is becoming clearer every week.

Before the games kick off on the final weekend of the regular season, here’s what PFF’s updated playoff bracket would look like based on our top 25 of the week.


Goodbye

1. Ohio State Buckeyes

State of Ohio took care of business with a 42-9 victory Rutgers in Week 13. The Buckeyes’ defense was dominant in the win, allowing just -0.479 EPA per play and 2.7 yards per play

State of Ohio is heading into a colossal showdown this week with his arch-rival at number 14 Michigan. A win for the Buckeyes would send them to the Big Ten Championship Game next week Indiana.

2. Indiana Hoosiers

Indiana was eliminated in week 13 and ends the regular season with the road against Purdue. If the Hoosiers or State of Ohio win, Indiana is headed to the first Big Ten Championship Game in program history.

3. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M exclude Samford by a final score of 48-0. The Aggies allowed just 92 yards to the Bulldogs and just 1.9 yards per play.

Texas A&M ends its regular season on the road against Texas on Friday evening. If the Aggies win, or if Alabama And Ole ma’am both lose, Texas A&M is headed to the first SEC Championship Game in program history.

4. Georgian bulldogs

Georgia defeated Charlotte by a final score of 35-3 in Week 13. The Bulldogs posted a defensive rating of 90.8 in the win, their best mark in four years.

Georgia travels to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech on Black Friday. In order for the Bulldogs to stay in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game next week, they need either Texas A&M or Alabama to lose.


First round

5. Ole Miss Rebels vs. 12. James Madison Dukes

Ole ma’am was eliminated in Week 13 and ends the regular season in the Egg Bowl against archrival The state of Mississippi on Friday.

The rebels must win, Texas A&M lose and Alabama. losing to play in their first-ever SEC Championship Game. Head coach Lane Kiffin is also expected to announce his future plans on Saturday after the Egg Bowl.

James Madison remains the highest-ranked team in the Group of Five after the 24-20 win Washington State in week 13. Although the DukeIf they keep this spot in the Group of Five for the time being, it would help them if some chaos ensued at the American Conference in the form of Tulan and/or North Texas lose in week 14.

6. Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. 11. Miami (FL) Hurricanes

Texas technology had a bye in week 13 and ends the regular season on the road against West Virginia. If the Red Raiders win or State of Arizona loses, Texas technology will play in the first Big 12 Championship Game in program history.

Miami remains our top-ranked ACC team with a 34-17 win Virginia technology. Quarterback Carson Beck earned a PFF grade of 90.5 in the win, his second straight week with a 90.0-plus passing grade.

While the Hurricanes hold this spot for now, they still need help to reach the ACC Championship Game.

7. Oregon ducks vs. 10. Alabama Crimson Tide

Oregon won the biggest match of week 13 by defeating number 15 USC by a final score of 42-27. Quarterback Dante Moore was phenomenal in the win, earning a PFF grade of 90.0 with an adjusted completion percentage of 86.2%.

Oregon ends its regular season on the road against Washington. For the Ducks to go to Indianapolis to defend their Big Ten championship, they need to win and a State of Ohio loss.

Alabama closed its non-conference slate with a 56-0 shutout victory Eastern Illinois. The Crimson Tide surrendered just 34 total yards to the Panthers, an average of just 0.9 yards per play.

Alabama now only has to win the Iron Bowl against Chestnut brown to reach the SEC Championship Game.

8. BYU Cougars vs 9. Oklahoma Sooners

BYU went out and knocked Cincinnati 26-14 in Week 13. Running back LJ Martin had a career day, running for 222 yards and two touchdowns with 119 yards after contact.

Now all the Cougars have to do is beat UCF or State of Arizona losing in Week 14 to reach their first Big 12 Championship Game.

Okla kept their playoff hopes alive with a 17-6 win over No. 22 Missouri. The Sooners’ run defense shut down Ahmad Hardy and the Tigers’ elite rushing attack, giving up just 48 rushing yards on the game’s first drive.

Okla just have to beat now LSU in Week 14 to make his first College Football Playoff appearance in six years.
