Colby Covington has publicly called a matchup with Paddy Pimblett to give the very first event of the UFC on the South Lawn of the White House, planned for July 4, 2026, as part of the 250th anniversary of America. UFC President Dana White confirmed that conversations with the Trump administration have received approval for the event, with a professional map with mixed martial doctor on the White House site.
Colby Covington focuses on Paddy Pimblett for UFC fight of the White House
“There is nothing more that I want for my career and everything I worked for than to fight in the White House. You know, I am the one who started to get MMA in politics and Donald Trump who supports the Republican movement. So I feel that I earn it to fight that map of the White House.
Covington visited the White House for the first time in 2018 after beating Rafael Dos Anjos and became the first UFC champion invited to the Executive Mansion. Since then, he has closely matched the former President Donald Trump, referring to the public support of Trump as the central in his call for recording on the historical map. UFC Chief Dana White still has to release a fighting arrangement, but Covington’s lobby emphasizes his conviction that only he can claim the manton of MMA’s political pioneer.
When selecting an opponent, Covington emphasized an international challenge.
“Dream opponent, you know, probably Paddy Pimblett. I think you are going with someone who is not in the US. I don’t want to fight an American hunter. I want to fight for an international hunter. So I think Paddy Pimblett is most logical.”
Pimblett, a resident of Liverpool who competes with lightweight, has a 7-0 record in the UFC with two knockouts, three entries and two decision -making victories. He is currently in ninth place in the lightweight division after earning performance bonuses in five of his seven UFC fights.

The rise of Pimblett from Cage Warriors Champion to UFC Prospect has been fast. His most recent victory came by TKO on Michael Chandler at UFC 314 in April 2025, which strengthened his status as a competition. Pimblett known for its charismatic personality and pronounced style has received several fighting night cards.

Analysts note that a match between Covington and Pimblett would make a welterweight veteran that returns from a long resignation against a lightweight that never lost in the most important organization of MMA. Such a meeting would have a considerable promotional value, especially in view of the setting of the White House and the political overtones that are bound to the public person of both fighters.
UFC’s partnership with Paramount+ and CBS, announced in addition to the confirmation of the White House event, underlines the Pivot from the promotion to streaming and temporary employment distribution
