Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw spoke about his potential role for the Dodgers during the coming late season.
The Dodgers only have eight games left in the regular season and have to make a decision about who to bring in October towards the end of the season.
“We’ll see,” Said Kershaw. “We will see what is happening. My job is just to pitch well. Whatever decision they make, or if I can make a start or whatever – they will make the best decision for the team. I will make it anyway. It is clear that I want to make it difficult for them.”

Kershaw is fresh from his last regular start of the season Dodger Stadium, where he threw 4.1 innings and allowed two points to cross while he hit six. The 18-year-old veteran announced his retirement at the end of the season for Thursday’s series opener against the San Francisco Giants.
Manager Dave Roberts revealed that he has a place for the future Hall of Famer.
“It comes down to trust him,” Said Roberts. “And for me the late season is about players you trust.”

Kershaw has had a solid season since the return of the toe operation, which he underwent in the low season after missing the postsease 2024 because of the issue. This season he has an ERA from 3.55 to 21 starts and has an ERA+ well above the competition average with a figure of 118. Despite his limited amount of time on the Roster, his 10 victories in second place are only Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the team.
The Dodgers have locked up a postseason spot and are well on their way to win the NL West with a four-game lead on the San Diego Padres in the division. Kershaw will certainly perform in the late season, but can still solidify its place on the Roster with the last regular start of his career.
