British charities broke the ties with Sarah Ferguson after reported e -mail with describing Jeffrey Epstein as ‘friend’ – Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7News

London (AP)-A number of charities on Monday break the ties with Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, after British newspapers had published an e-mail that she reportedly wrote to the late convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein, who described him as a ‘supreme friend.

Julia’s house, a children’s track, said that the reported correspondence made it inappropriate for Ferguson, also known as the Duchess of York, to remain a patron. A Ferguson spokesperson said she sent an e -mail on the advice of her lawyers after Epstein threatened to sue her before associating him with sexual abuse in a media interview, the British press association reported.

“After the information that is shared this weekend about the correspondence of York’s Duchess with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia’s house made the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue as a patron of the charity,” said the charity. “We advised York’s Duchess of this decision and thank her for her past support.”

A charity for food allergy, the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, and prevent breast cancer, also belonged to the charities that break the tires in the light of recent revelations. The Teenage Cancer Trust, who had an association with Ferguson for 35 years, also dropped her as a patron.

The e -mail referred to an interview in 2011 with the Evening Standard -newspaper in which she apologized for accepting 15,000 pounds from Epstein.

“I love to do pedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a huge judgment of judgment on my behalf. I am just so repellent that I cannot say,” Ferguson said in the interview. “When I can, I will pay back the money and have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein someday.”

But the following month Ferguson sent an e -mail to Epstein in which she “humbly apologized” to link him to sexual abuse and said: “You have always been a steadfast, generous and supreme friend for me and my family,” the Sun -newspaper reported this weekend.

The Associated Press could not independently confirm that the e -mail is authentic.

The story comes less than a month after Andrew himself was criticized because he had been in contact with Epstein for five years longer than was said before.

Leaked e -mail correspondence between Epstein and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak indicated that the prince had already had contact with Epstein in 2015, the Times of London reported. Andrew told the BBC in 2019 that he already stopped contact with Epstein in December 2010, after the deceased financier had promised to be guilty of sex crimes in Florida.

Andrew and his ex-wife have confronted with a series of scandals in the midst of concern that the prince tried to take advantage of his royal status.

He was forced to give up all royal tasks and charity roles after the 2019 interview with the BBC in which he was criticized because he tried to minimize his connections with Epstein and not to show his victims’ sympathy. Last year it turned out that a suspected Chinese spy had developed close ties with Andrew, causing them to worry about efforts to give inappropriate influence on other members of the royal family.
