Classic Connection family member wins fastest Breeders Crown elim

The trunks of the brilliant young Love You horse Classic connectionwhich is based at the Goulburn Valley Equine Centre, Shepparton, under the Haras Des Trotteurs banner, got a huge boost last Friday (October 17) with the results of the Breeders Crown eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Ontario.

A very close relative of Classic Connection named Diabolic Hill led from go to whoa to effortlessly win the fastest of the two $25,000 Breeders Crown eliminations for two-year-old stallions and geldings in a new lifetime average of 1:53.2.

The Muscle Hill colt carved out sections of 27.8, 30.2, 27.6 and 27.6 en route to victory by 3-1/4 lengths without driver Todd McCarthy even turning the whip.

Diabolic Hill will start from gate number 3 in this Saturday’s $700,000 Final.

Diabolic Hill, a $300,000 sale purchase in Lexington, has raced eight times for four wins and two placings and $147,344 in stakes. He also finished a creditable fourth in the Grade 1 Mohawk Million from the outpost.

Diabolic Hill is out of Crysti Dream, a winning half-sister of the great racing mare Crys Dream, the mother of Classic Connection. Crys Dream won three Grade 1 events as a two- and three-year-old, earning $1.2 million, posting a mile score of 1:53.4 and being named the U.S. and Canadian 2YO Filly Trotter of the Year.

Classic Connection has made a quite spectacular start to his breeding career in Australia. From five starters in his first crop he has left four winners, including Listed Bob Conroy 2YO Classic winner and $75,000 Nutrien Equine Classic runner-up Afternoon Breeze, NSW Foundation Series winner Cee Cee In Paris and Nutrien heat placegetter and finalist Hammer.

Classic Connection was a top youngster himself, winning the Group 1 German Breeder’s Crown as a three-year-old and later in his career two Group 2s and five Group 3s, including the German Derby.

In total, he won 11 races and $614,631 in stakes and set a mile record of 1:54.1.

Classic Connection’s service charge is $3,500 plus GST in Australia and $4,000 plus GST in New Zealand.
