1 minute, 16 seconds Read

Claressa Shields kept her Undisputed heavyweight title Intact on Saturday evening and a dominant victory achieved at Lani Daniels in Detroit, Michigan.

While the scrap started slowly, dancing Daniels around and avoiding a contact with shields in the first two rounds, the New Zealander finally started to walk ahead in the third. Daniels looked to close the distance and pin shields against the ropes, but even when she was successful in it, the dirty boxing exchanges dominated.

Shields started to take over in the fifth and sixth rounds, tore to the body of Daniels and landed some solid power shots at the top. In the seventh, Shields landed her best punch of the fight and shoots Daniels with a flourishing right hook that almost planted her opponent on the mat.

The merit of Daniels, she ate the shot and continued to move forward, welcoming a firefight with the undisputed heavyweight champion. Yet it was clear when we went on the 10th and final round that Daniels was not a real threat to the status ‘Gwoat’ by Shield.

Daniels and Shields turned it out for the last two minutes, but neither fighter was able to land the knockout stroke and sent us to the score cards for a decision that should not be a surprise.

Official result: Claressa Shields Def. Lani Daniels via a unanimous decision (100-90, 99-91, 99-91) to maintain the heavyweight world championship for women.
