Clarence Bass has been a role model for me in the field of healthy aging for about 25 years. Recently, some photos of Clarence at the age of 87 were posted on his website which are exciting because he certainly defies the stereotype of a vulnerable older person.

Like me, Clarence has been working through the limitations of aging despite two hip replacements. He also has back problems that make deadlifts a bad idea, but he just figured out another way to get equivalent benefits.

The photos clearly show that he is still training at high intensity. Clarence walks and does mobility exercises every day, and does one heavy strength training session per week, and one heavy cardio workout. He also eats a very good diet. Clearly this routine is working well for him.
