Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz were all absent with the Canadian Open Masters who were currently played in Toronto, all stated that they needed rest from a hectic schedule.
Although that was disappointing for the organizers, it seems that Djokovic, at the age of 38, needs a little more time, it has been revealed that his name has been withdrawn from the entry list for the Cincinnati Masters, but no reason was provided, except by the ATP that it was for a ‘non-medical reason’.
The next time Djokovic is expected to play, is the US Open that starts on August 25 and means that he has not played a competitive game since he loses Wimbledon to Sinner in the semi -final of Wimbledon.
At that time he wore a left -hand dij injury that is probably still trying to shake, so that even an American open appearance could be doubtful.
This season was not the best for the Serbian former word no. 1, currently ranked at 6, who could be revised by Alex de Minaur or Ben Shelton in the ranking this week, the Australian or American advance to the Canadian final should be open. And both players are currently confronted in the quarterfinals of Toronto!
Djokovic, with a record of 29 victories and 9 defeats this season, still wants to win his 25th Grand Slam title that now has won his 100th Trophy in Geneva last May, but if he is not successful at this year’s Flushing Meadows, many pundits will not hang his racket before.
