The Christmas holidays are over and Christmas has long been put away. Christmas and New Year’s weekend offered new beautiful memories with loved ones. New traditions mixed with old. Josef and I have not celebrated Christmas together before Flora, even though we have been together for 10 years. So this will be the second year that we find our own way of doing things and create new traditions together. The small family.
Christmas was spent here in Stockholm, we had dinner at the old National Archives on Christmas Eve which was incredible. Of course a great Christmas table, but above all the feeling that no one has to stress and prepare an entire Christmas table. Or do the dishes for that matter. I love it dress up and it became a bit festive to go out for dinner on Christmas Eve. Then Santa Claus came to Annelie & Paul’s house and Flora was not afraid. Maybe because her father also has long hair and a beard haha.

After a train ride to Småland in the middle of the day, we celebrated the New Year again in Stockholm with friends. Me & Flora in glittery dresses and matching patent leather shoes. When the clock struck twelve, I promised myself more self-care in 2026. You know, a facial, a massage, a long bath at home… Things like that that I skimmed through and weren’t a priority during the first year at Flora. But by self-care I also mean exercise, which is my best friend for clearing my head.

Now I have been back at the computer in my daily life since Wednesday. There is an unusual amount of snow in Stockholm at the moment and for me, who is not a winter person at all, I have to struggle and remind myself every day that I don’t want to go crazy haha. I am very grateful that we can now stay in our neighborhood in Södermalm now that everything is close by: the house, the office and the kindergarten. Our small city buggy from Bugaboo is also currently fighting bravely.

The first thrift hunt of the year is over and two purchases have been made. My sister described my vintage French coat with fur trim as “a mother sausage – but make it vintage” and it was perfect. Found on Vinted.
The second vintage purchase of the year was a pair of 70s jeans from Beyond Retro in Zinkensdam, which is currently having a big super sale. This runs until January 11, so there is time to take a look this weekend. They sell everything in the store for SEK 149 or less and if you look closely you might get lucky. I usually have good luck with jeans there and some of my best vintage Levi’s 501 & 550 have found a home there.
So the new year has truly begun and it feels more important than ever to remember that the journey is the goal. In addition to my self-care theme, I hope that we can be healthy and that 2026 will be the year in which we start moving more. Dream of decorating a children’s room.
What do you hope for in 2026?
