Another Christmas has passed, the fifth at this address in Nynäshamn. Overall I had a very good December! Calm, comfortable and barely a trace of stress. Personally, I wouldn’t have felt like another Christmas in the mountains, maybe even a repeat of last year’s Christmas holiday in Funäsdalen. However, the children wanted to be home and now in retrospect I am happy with the decision to stay in Nynäshamn. What was it like then, Christmas 2025? Let’s see.
We sneaked into the festivities around the first Advent. Gingerbread cookies were baked, many candles were lit…

…and finally it was decorated in every corner.

By the way, it will be the last Christmas I tolerate with neon flashing lights on the tree.

No one sends nice packages like mother-in-law, it is always just as fun to open the lid of these boxes.

The meager hours of sunshine during the last month of the year became national news in mid-December Stockholm could barely muster a meager hour of sunlight. When the shadows of the sun cats reflected on the walls here at home, the mobile moved forward to immortalize the rare glory.

Up for the first time I-don’t-know-how-many-years we failed in the tradition of Christmas baking and crafting with my eldest sister and second cousins on a Christmas weekend. To my great luck, the same sister decided to surprise her children in the capital the last weekend before Christmas…

…and also made a trip to Nynäshamn. We celebrated with a games night and a luxurious brunch before continuing on and leaving the atmosphere on top here at home. At this point, even the youngest daughter got tired of baking and crafting gingerbread…

…which became clear when I came home with this note.

At work, there were many Christmas graduates after a fun and intense semester.

The day before baptism, I continued Christmas by finishing up the last few presents at local shops. I was very happy to step into our little flower shop and be greeted by this beautiful signage.

And suddenly it was actually Christmas Eve! For the first time, Tobias and I woke up earlier than all the children. New times for sure.

We were pleased to find that after many ups and downs it was a white Christmas. After unloading 5 x Christmas socks…

…it was set up for breakfast. By then it was already lunchtime.

After a few pleasant hours at home in Nynäshamn we got into the car…

…and drove to our friends in Vendelsö to arrive there in time for sunset.

Some set the Christmas table while others watched Donald Duck and played games. Occasionally a Christmas present was also exchanged. I was completely satisfied with my package, which contained two pairs of nice warm socks from Kari Traa. After a few hours, our family thanked us and drove home to open more packages.

I received, among other things, a small globe with the invitation to place it on the desk. It matched the theme of the Christmas tree decorations nicely!

We put on pajama pants, played games and before we went to bed a lot of research was done about traveling to China. He wants to go on the couch terribly feel free to go there – sooner rather than later.

I sat down and looked through the photo album for a while and of course became very nostalgic. I spent my first Christmas Eve in hospital – this must have been sometime around Lucia 1980?

It was Christmas Day and time for obligatory family padel. Unfortunately, all family members being in the padel room at the same time only happens once a year.

And so those strange in-between days continued. I worked a little, ran a little and ate a little more.

Last Sunday it was time for our eldest son to pick up his Christmas present in the form of a test drive in Scandinavia’s only F1 simulator (which is located in the south of Stockholm). It was a success!

Yesterday the calendar was December 29, which for us meant an early New Year’s celebration with good friends. They are away during the new year, so we decided to celebrate the new year in advance. The date in question also happened to coincide with mine and Tobias’ wedding anniversary, so there were many reasons to celebrate. For eighteen years we called ourselves husband and wife. I am very happy with that.
And with that I thank the Christmas holidays in 2025. You were great!
I wish you a wonderful end of the year and a good continuation. You can read more about previous Christmas celebrations here on the blog.
