Observations from Mets spring training on Monday:
Great Scott
Christian Scott was sharp during live batting practice and struckout Juan Soto (on four pitches) and Bo Bichette.
The right-hander is returning from Tommy John rehabilitation surgery that cost him last season.
It hangs there
Justin Hagenman also threw several innings of live batting practice.
The right-hander was a spot starter for the Mets last season after being signed to a Major League contract despite never pitching above the Triple-A level.
Caught my attention
Carlos Beltrán stood around the batting cage in uniform for the team’s first full practice.
Beltrán, a special assistant, announced in recent weeks that he would wear a Mets cap on his Hall of Fame plaque.

Lee Mazzilli was also present at the training.
Tuesday’s schedule
Full-squad practices continue ahead of Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Marlins at Clover Park.
