China has accused the US of making “unfounded accusations” about the development of threats by Beijing, in particular in its aggressive attitude towards Taiwan.
China objected to the comments from the US Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth who call on allies in the Indo-Pacific region to spend more on defense after warning for the “real and potentially threatening” threat of China.
Previously, Mr. Hegseeth warned the Shangri-la dialog in Singapore that the Chinese army “rehearses for the real deal”, to invade Taiwan.

HU Gangfeng, vice-president of China’s National Defense University, said that the accusations were “nothing more than attempts to provoke problems, engage division and generate confrontation to destabilize the Asia-Pacific region.”
“Some claims are fully manufactured, some distort facts, and some are cases of a thief crying” stop, thief, “he said.
He offered no specific objections.
China regards Taiwan as his own territory and has sworn “reuniting” with the democratic and separately governed island, if necessary by violence.
The government of Taiwan rejects the sovereignty of Beijing and says that only the people of the island can determine their future.
China has increased military and political pressure to assert those claims, including increasing the intensity of war games around Taiwan.
Defense Minister Richard Marles warned that Australia cannot only rely on the US to combat the Chinese military structure.

Australia evokes the lack of transparency from China
When asked about Australia’s defense, Prime Minister Anthony Albanian confirmed that it would increase his investment.
“We will determine our defense policy and we have just invested an extra $ 10 billion in defense in the attackers,” he said the ABC.
“What we will do has continued to bid to invest in our assets, but also our relationships in the region.”

Defense Minister Richard Marles pointed out that, although Australia made its investments public, China had to explain the reasoning behind the largest conventional military structure since the Second World War.
“It’s not just the size of the [China’s] Military structure, it is the fact that it happens without strategic reassurance and without a clear strategic intention, “he told the ABC, at the Shangri-la dialogue.
“We want to see that strategic transparency and strategic reassurance are offered by China and an understanding of why it is necessary to have such an extraordinary military structure”.
Australia and allies step-up spending
Australia is currently on schedule to reach the defense expenditure levels of 2.33 percent of GDP by 2033-34, an increase in the current level of 2.02 percent.
But the Trump government has put pressure on the Australian government to eliminate its expenses to at least 3 percent of GDP.

In the meantime, Mr. Marles said on Sunday that submarines of nuclear submarines who were delivered under Aukus were “on the right track”.
Aukus is a trilateral security agreement between Australia, the US and the UK.
Because of the deal, Australia will have a total of eight new submarines with nuclear powered submarines.
“We are optimistic about how it progresses,” he said, adding that Australians who worked on the submarines acquired new skills.
Mr. Hegseeth also called on allies in the Indo-Pacific region to increase spending, pointing to tensions in the South Chinese Sea, where the sovereignty of China and the Philippines over some islands.
As part of Washington’s long -term defense ties with the Philippines, the US Army has used Typhon launchers who can fire missiles to touch goals in both China and Russia from the Philippines.
