China is considering placing an order for hundreds of Airbus SE planes, already next month, when European leaders visit Beijing to celebrate the long-term tires of the countries, according to people who are familiar with the business.
The deliberations are underway with Chinese airlines about the size of a potential order, said that the people who asked not to be mentioned to discuss confidential matters. A deal can withhold around 300 aircraft and include both narrowbody and widebody models, they said, one person said that the order could vary between 200 and no less than 500 aircraft.
Negotiations are fluent and can fall apart or last longer to come to a conclusion, the people said.
Airbus refused to comment. Representatives of the Civil Aviation Administration of China did not respond to a faxed request for comments.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Friedrich Merz from Germany belong to leaders who can visit Beijing in July to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. Their countries are the two largest owners of Airbus, and a controversial deal with the flat maker would allow Chinese president Xi Jinping to send a message to US President Donald Trump about trade.
China and the US – the world’s two largest economies – stand against Loggerheads about trade rules that Trump is determined to reset during his second presidential term. If the two parties solve their differences, Airbus-Rivalal Boeing Co. Possibly being able to win great the American aircraft maker is the largest exporter in America and a Jet-Sale became in a US-OUT trade agreement in May.
To date, however, Boeing has been punished in China. In April, the authorities in Beijing Airlines told you to stop taking Boeing Jets. Trade stresses and the crises that the 737 Max Jet date will find out for years, and Airbus have prevailed in what was once a carefully balanced market between the two dominant flat -streaks.
Widebodies would be a significant part of a new Airbus order, said the people, with one person who said that the A330neo, the smallest Twin-Aisle model of the Vlyemaker, could win. The number of Twin-Aisle-Jets in disadvantage for the state of run and private carriers from China has decreased because Boeing has traditionally sold more on the market.
If the order were to run up to 500 aircraft, it would rank one of the largest ever and certainly the largest for China, so that an order is darkened for around 300 Airbus jets with one aisle made in 2022, which was then worth around $ 37 billion. Air India Ltd. Has an order inked for 470 Airbus and Boeing aircraft in 2023 and another Indian airline, Indigo, placed a record broken with Airbus in mid-2023 for 500 narrowbody aircraft.
Boeing has not won a large order from China since at least 2017 because of trade tensions and self -inflicted issues. In 2019, China became the first nation to ground the Max of 737 after two deadly crashes. Trade conflicts with the Biden and First Trump administrations have also helped Chinese orders to Airbus in Tilt. In 2024, Boeing suffered a quality crisis in January when a door plug blew out in January.
Each deal would probably be closed through the State -run purchasing body of China, which usually negotiates on behalf of the country’s airlines.
