A bodybuilder urges people to have their birthmarks checked after the diagnosis of the deadliest form of skin cancer was diagnosed in her.
Kristina Angeli, who has been competing for more than ten years, posted one video To Instagram that presents the subtle sign that she needed ‘life -changing operation’.
Two years ago, the mother of one prepared herself for a competition in the Bahamas when she became more and more self -aware of a mole close to her ear.
The fitness fanatic, from Canberra, Australia, decided to have ‘ugly’ growth removed a few months after the competition for ‘vanity reasons’.
In the caption of the video, which has been viewed more than 74,000 times, she wrote: “She doesn’t know yet, but that mole above her ear is cancer.”
“When he removed it, the doctor told me it was risky because it was next to a big nerve,” she remembered.
‘I could lose all the sensation on the left side of my face. That was just the beginning … “.
A few months later it was discovered that the mole was actually melanoma – the deadliest form of skin cancer.
Mrs Angeli was diagnosed with a stage 2 form of the disease, which means that there was no evidence that it had spread outside the skin to other tissue.
She then underwent an operation to remove melanoma – but she said in another video posted on social media ‘was not exactly as planned’.
Surgeons were forced to make a broad excision to remove the cancer, as well as a deleted lymph node from under her neck.
According to Cancer research UK (Cruk), doctors usually recommend that patients with the disease have removed a lymph node to test on cancer as a precaution.
Mrs Angeli then remained behind with a large part of the skin that caught doctors with a skin transplant harvested from her left hip.
Remembering her test, she said: “This whole journey has been scary. But I remembered so much and remembered so much. ‘
Two years later she uses her platform to encourage others to have their skin checked before it’s too late.
In her most recent message about her Melanoma trip, she said: ‘I’m going for a skin control tomorrow. They always make me nervous. But it is two years of cancer -free.

Most melanomas present as mole that have uneven edges and look different from ‘normal’ moles.
The Skin Cancer Foundation also warns people to pay attention to ‘ugly ducks’ – uneven mother stains that protrude very clearly.
