Vapes punctuated with the ‘zombie drugs’ herb have been found in schools that lead children to be taken to the hospital -because the police give a grim warning for parents.

There is an increase in polluted Vapen, which are often sold on social media platforms such as Snapchat, found in high schools in Wiltshire, the police said.

Spice is a laboratory made medicine that mimics the effects of cannabis, but with much stronger consequences.

It can cause serious side effects, such as breathing problems, heart attacks and attacks.

Other symptoms are dizzy, vomiting, heart races, sweating, fear and paranoia.

The police in Wiltshire say they now use a new device to test Vapes in schools to check if they are infected.

The Force works together with Bath University, Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council to test suspected polluted Vapen to reduce further risks for students.

Officers recommend parents to talk to their children about the dangers of using polluted vapen after the discovery.

PCSO Jon Akehurst said: ‘I would encourage parents to have conversations with your child about the dangers and risks and what happens if they use a vape that is infected somewhere.

‘Make it clear that if you take these things, this has an impact on your life.

What is ‘Spice’?

Spice is a synthetic high that falls into a category of substances that give the body an artificial bustle of endorphins, or ‘high’.

It is a synthetic cannabinoid that has similar effects as natural cannabis.

However, it is much more powerful and reacts stronger with the receptors of the brain.

Regular use can cause a relapse of mental disorders or the risk of increasing an increase.

Studies have shown that it can also lead to heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, sleepiness, confusion, shaking, sweating, nausea, vomiting and passing.

Together with many other so-called ‘legal highlights’, Spice became illegal under the Psychoactive Substances ACT 2016 and remains a category B-Medicijn, together with cannabis, ketamine and codeine.

It is illegal to produce, sell or give away herbs. Sharing vapen that contain THC or herbs with friends can lead to a maximum prison sentence of 14 years or an unlimited fine.

‘Maybe you have a drug addiction; You may need it constantly, it will cost your money and you could end up with the debts.

‘There are real consequences for everyone who uses drugs.

‘If you are worried about your child, there are people who can help and support you.

‘Unfortunately, there can be many different reactions with herbs.

‘We have seen vomiting and behavioral changes, and we had an incident where there were concerns that a child had a fit.

‘The reactions can be very, very wide. Behavioral changes seem to be the greatest care for schools, where students are in order for lunch, but after lunch they are increased from aggression. ‘

A shocking study last year showed that one in six vapen from school children in England was adopted to have been established with the ‘zombie drug’ herb.

Professor Chris Pudney, an expert in biotechnology from the University of Bath, carried out tests using the world’s first portable device that immediately detects synthetic medicines.

Working with involved schools and police, he tested 596 seized Vapen and discovered Spice on 28 of 38 (74 percent) of schools in London, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire.

About one in six (16.6 percent) of the Vapen contained herbs, while about one in 100 (1.17 percent) contained THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis.

Earlier this year it was reported by those students of Unity City Academy in Middlesbrough in the hospital.

In the meantime, a teenage girl from Tesside collapsed at school after he had tried a polluted vape with the herb ridge.

Professor Pudney said: ‘Teenagers think they are buying vapes or vape liquid that contain THC of Nicotine, while they are actually peppered with herbs.

‘We know that children can get cardiac arrest when they smoke herbs, and I believe that some people got close to death.

‘Headteachers tell me that students collapse in the corridors and end with a long stay in intensive care.

‘This is not just a niche, one -off event that takes place at a school far away from you, this is something common.

“While we enter the school holiday, if we can have an open dialogue and talk to children about the risks they are confronted, they have the chance to make a different choice.”
