The Facebook page of Chery Malaysia has Posted a teaser of the Chery O5 as a coming arrival, with a Registration of interest page Now open to the SUV prior to the arrival later this month. In the event that you wonder what the O5 is, well, it is essentially the facelifted Omoda 5, who made his debut in Russia last year.
After the switch of the model of the Omoda-Utituur in the main brand (and because Omoda | Jaecoo runs here as a separate entity), the name also followed the example, redesigned as the Chery O5 for Malaysia.
It is the same car as the Chery C5, which was launched in Indonesia earlier this year, simply mentioned differently to avoid the same naming convention as the Omoda C7 and C9 PHEV. Just like Indonesia, however, the teaser image indicates that the O5 will wear a Omoda word marking on its face (Australia gets the C5 with a Chery script).
The renewal brings a new face to the word mark, there is a considerably replyed bumper and a revised grille, the last dumps the current chrome-littered design for body-colored squares.
Elsewhere, the O5 has a new 18-inch wheel design and, as shown on the Indonesian example, the red highlights over the vehicle (bumpers, door mirrors, rocker panels, tail gate spoiler and wheels) are no longer present, now presented in black.
The motor choice remains a 1.5-liter turbo compressor with four-cylinders gasoline engine, which offered 156 hp and 230 Nm on the outgoing car, but there are some mechanical changes-the nine virtual ratio of previously dropped for a six-accelerated bin, while the previous torsion-bull set.
There are no revisions in the interior, with the full-width Air Vent design, wide-screen panel with Twin 10.25-inch screens (which the company calls a 20.5-inch integrated dual screen here) with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android car remaining Key Highlights.
With two equipment levels that are expected to appear again, the equipment levels that previously reflect.
