Striker Tyrique George has opened up and revealed he is very excited about his move to Everton after the Blues agreed to let him stay there on loan until the end of the season.
The young striker rose through the ranks in the first team under Enzo Maresca but has struggled to become a regular in the side this season. He did not feature in the last six matchday selections.
He saw a last-minute move to Fulham fall through on Deadline Day in the summer, but the 19-year-old still had plenty of suitors keen to sign him this winter transfer window, with the Blues in talks with a number of clubs over a potential deal.
But eventually towards the end of the transfer window it was revealed that Everton were very keen to complete a transfer deal for George and after a few days of talks Chelsea allowed him to leave the club until the end of the season.
And George, an explosive and skilled 19-year-old capable of playing across the attacking line, is set to make his club debut at Fulham on Saturday, he told EvertonTV: “I’m really excited to be here and enjoying this huge club. I just can’t wait to get started.”
“The fans here are exceptional. I know Evertonians are very passionate. They like hard work – and that’s what I’m going to show. I want to be exciting and I want to impress them.”
“The gaffer, David Moyes, was another reason [I wanted to join]. He is a great manager who has coached so many players, like Wayne Rooney, and players like that. I had a quick chat with him and he’s a great person too.
“I just want to enjoy it, learn and improve under him.”
“I feel ready, ready to make an impact,” George continued. “It feels like an exciting time for the club.
“I’m going to take on this new challenge. I want to get started as quickly as possible and hopefully that’s possible.
“I’ve seen some pictures of it [Hill Dickinson Stadium]. It’s huge and looks fantastic, so I’m really looking forward to playing there.”
PAUL MERSON SHOCKED BY THE JACKET DECISION
Gunners icon Paul Merson has admitted he is shocked that Jeremy Jacquet turned down a move to Chelsea in January and instead opted for a summer move to Liverpool.
CHELSEA had explored a bid for Jacquet and appeared to make a major breakthrough in their move when they agreed personal terms with the 20-year-old earlier in the January transfer window.
Jacquet has developed himself into one of the most promising young defenders in French football in recent months and was closely linked with Arsenal last summer, but in the final few days of the transfer window LIVERPOOL struck a stunning deal for the youngster, worth around £55m plus £5m in add-ons, blowing their rivals out of the water.
However, Jacquet will remain at Rennes for the remainder of the season before joining the reigning Premier League champions until the summer. Merson has opened up and revealed he was shocked to see Jacquet make the move to Liverpool and not Chelsea.
“Yes, I thought it was special that he came in the summer,” Paul Merson told Sky Sports
‘They now need a centre-back to challenge for the top four or top five. So yeah, I’m surprised. I am extremely shocked. I don’t know why this boy stays in France until the beginning of next season.
‘When you pay that amount you think: “We want it now, we want it today!”, and that’s the problem.
‘I don’t know if it’s FFP rules, I don’t know if it is. If that’s the reasoning, then I understand it.’
Jacquet is a good signing for Liverpool and as a player for the club CHELSEA fan, I’m shocked he didn’t go to Chelsea,” Merson – a lifelong Chelsea fan – added.
“I know Chelsea have a lot of centre-backs, but I think in my opinion there needs to be a lot coming in and out of Chelsea. But I’m glad Acheampong stayed, but I think he’s going to be a real, good player, that boy.’

£60 million is a lot of money to drop on someone who hasn’t done much in the game. It’s a huge risk LIVERPOOL to squander this amount when they could have gotten Marc Guehi for just £30 million earlier in the transfer window.
It was a shock to see Chelsea miss Jacquet, but the boy must have felt he would get more opportunities at Liverpool than at Stamford Bridge.
MOYES HAPPY WITH GEORGE ADDITION
Everton boss David Moyes has opened up and revealed he is delighted to have Tyrique George at the club after the Toffees agreed a deal with CHELSEA to keep him on loan until the end of the season.
Discussing Everton’s new signing, manager David Moyes has opened up and revealed that he is delighted to see the talented winger join the club. He said: “We are delighted to have signed Tyrique on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season.
“Tyrique is a versatile forward who can play all over the front line. I hope he will soon settle into our squad, and the support from our fans will certainly help him feel at home. We look forward to working with him.”
Looking to the future, George added: “Getting European football for next season is a great goal for us and I know everyone will be working hard to achieve this.
“I want to come here and help the team win as many games as possible and continue to rise in the rankings.”
