Chelsea in ‘advanced’ talks to appoint Strasbourg coach

Chelsea are in advanced talks to appoint Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior as the club’s new manager.

The west Londoners parted ways with Enzo Maresca by mutual consent on January 1, following a rift in the Italian’s relationship with the club’s hierarchy. Chelsea are keen to name a successor quickly and have turned to Rosenior as their leading option.

Rosenior is currently in charge of BlueCo-owned Strasbourg, who sit seventh in Ligue 1 this season after securing European qualification in the 2024/2025 season.

The 41-year-old is highly regarded at Chelsea, who are making good progress in talks with the French team, according to Sky Germany.

According to the report, Rosenior will be appointed at Stamford Bridge unless something ‘extraordinary’ happens and talks are now well advanced.

Rosenior is contractually bound to Strasbourg until 2028 with a remuneration package to be agreed upon. The Englishman was appointed at Stade de la Meinau in 2024, after an earlier period at Hull City.

His playing career included notable spells at Fulham, Reading, Hull and Brighton.
