Chelsea is in conversation with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Xavi Simons with personal conditions that have already been agreed with the Dutch International, because Enzo Maresca focuses on a new midfielder before the 2025/26 campaign starts.
Despite a transfer that looks for the former Saint-Germain star in Paris, Offside (with reference to Daily Express) has reported that Chelsea is expected to try a transfer for Aston Villa -star Morgan Rogers.
According to the source, the blues are ‘sharp admirers’ of the English international and the interest of Unai Emery in Nicolas Jackson can use a deal for Rogers, since Villa has to discharge players because of the PSR of the Premier League.
Rogers was perhaps the best player of Aston Villa last season when he led the way for them with 14 goals and 16 assists in all competitions. His appreciation is £ 80 million, although a Swap deal in which Jackson is involved can reduce its price tag.
Chelsea cannot sign both Rogers and Simons
Although they are both brilliant players, Chelsea would not be economical if they sign Morgan Rogers and Xavi Simons, given that they bring similar profiles to the table and also play in exactly the same roles on the field.
Given that conversations for Simons are in a more advanced stage than the interest of Chelsea in Rogers, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the RB Leipziger is their priority above the midfielder of Aston Villa.
That said, signing two number 10s makes no sense for Chelsea, because starting both players would disrupt their defensive stability that has been vital for their success in recent months.
Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have done excellent in deeper positions and the last that Enzo Maresca would like is to disturb the chemistry that the South Americans have built among themselves and the rear four of the team.
A new attacking midfielder would mean that Cole Palmer is starting to appear on the right wing, so that he is liberated from his creative responsibilities, so Simons, who gives more output as a conductor between midfield and the attack would be the better signing.
Morgan Rogers, however, would be a solid alternative, so the blues would not be understandably expected to cool off in him until everything is completely in place for Xavi Simons.
