Chelsea are showing ‘strong interest’ in signing Morgan Rogers

Chelsea are reportedly showing ‘strong interest’ in signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers Caught offside.

Since moving to Villa Park from Middlesbrough a few years ago, the Englishman has established himself as an undisputed starter in Unai Emery’s starting lineup.

In his debut season he helped the Villans qualify for the Champions League before guiding them to the Europa League last season. Last season he scored 27 goals in all competitions.

This season he continued to produce impressive performances, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Now, Caught offside claim Chelsea, impressed by the 23-year-old’s performances, are showing ‘strong interest’ in signing him.

Aston Villa have no plans to let him leave mid-season, but due to FFP rules they may have to cash in on him next summer. However, if they qualify for the Champions League, it would help them financially and perhaps even convince the player to stay.

Emery’s side currently sit third in the Premier League with 39 points from 19 games, nine points ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea.

Rogers to Chelsea

Chelsea is on alert and ready to take action to secure his service if an opportunity arises in the coming months.

Rogers has a contract at Villa Park until 2031 and is valued at around £61 million Transfer market. Therefore, Aston Villa are in a strong position to demand a huge amount of money if they have to sell him this year.

According to the report, in addition to Rogers, Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri is also on the Blues’ radar to strengthen the attack.

The 23-year-old is comfortable playing on the left flank and in the number 10 position, but is also efficient on the right flank when necessary. He is fast, strong, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight spaces, is efficient at taking set pieces and also has an eye for scoring goals from distance.

After proving his worth in the Premier League, he has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team.

Rogers is a top class player and would be a big step forward for Chelsea if they were to sign him. However, it will be interesting to see whether the west London club will ultimately make a concrete move to secure his services in January or next summer.
