Charlie Woods is not going to win this week’s Junior Players Championship. But he won the internet on Sunday.
With an ace.
It happened on the 3rd hole at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla., During the third and final round of the event. After he started his round on the 10th hole, the 16-year-old son of Tiger Woods was even on the day until 11 holes when he came to the 177-Yard Par-3.
Woods showed his father’s flair for the dramatic, brought his tee -shot and held his pose.
“That is really good,” one of his play partners could be heard. Moments later, fans confirmed the result around the green.
“Is it in it?” Woods said before his play partner confirmed that he had made an ace. Woods sounded excited, but his physical reaction was more cautious than the characteristic fist pump of his father. Charlie opted for high five instead.
HO-bum. After all, he was there. The first hole-in-one of the younger Woods came to the PNC championship in December.
Now he has his second. Eighteen more and he will catch his old husband, who has 20 career ash.
There is time for that. However, it is too late for Woods to catch the leaders on the Junior Players Championship. On Sunday he ended with an Even-PAR 72 to finish on 7-over par for the event, well behind the pace of another 16-year-old, Miles Russell of Jacksonville, FLA.
From these types, Russell was in first place at 8-under for the week.
