Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card of Charles Town Races:
- VARIETIES ON A MAP: 8
- TRANSFERS:
- POST TIME: 7:00 PM
RACE 1
| 3. Amendment | This one took a whole series of changes: first in a new shed, first under the lights, the first route on the sand – and it all seemed to catch up with her after half a mile, when suddenly she was done; We’ll give her one more go |
| 7. Double mind | Two things seem likely: this miss will eventually undo this condition, and she will be overstaffed when it does; even-money is pretty aggressive here, but if it’s going to rain, keep in mind that she won (and was DQed) on a sloppy track |
| 2. Don’t call me honey | Makes a second start in the Farrior shed after showing speed and stopping last |

RACE 2
| 2. Keep coming | Useful return from a two-year break (!); trainer Allard has scored 6-out-of-25 at CT in recent years |
| 5. Head of the class | Just missed out on claiming a three-life company; trainer Brown is 6-for-20 with a positive ROI second post-claim and moves to a benefits company |
| 1. Bigz’s Cabana Boy | This guy knows one way to do it ā all the way to the front ā and the inside post is the shortest way |
RACE 3
| 2. Down with the Wyn | There is a lot of early speed in this race, and it will come at the end; usually doesn’t quite get there (13 seconds-third versus just four wins), but doesn’t get a better lineup at this level |
| 8. Ran the Red | Pulled away from others at speed and possibly set up a stalking trip; comes from a win |
| 4. Neolithic | Ran poorly versus better in the last and Magee shed is ice cold (4-for-62 last two months), but her better form wins here |

RACE 4
| 5. Gilda’s girl | Trainer Geralis has been winning at a 50% clip on CT for the past two years, and this mare has recently scored two wins under the lights |
| 8. Maddie Ten | It could be the speed of the speed and you can make the most of it through the outer pull |
| 1. Inquire | Nicely collected to win last; it kinda feels like the journey is the key for this one as it seemed like she didn’t like being around the runners |
RACE 5
| 4. Overly critical | Likes to win (12 times in 40 starts) and barely qualifies for the condition |
| 1. Jester’s song | Looks to be the best of the Farrior runners, but was recently edged out by the 10-1 winner |
| 8. Solomon’s Gold | Drops in better company after a few off-kilter outings |

RACE 6
| 8. Love food | Figures to control speed, and last time she ran around two corners she stayed willing versus better |
| 6. Sigh City | The last one was bad, but the previous shape was fine for this |
| 3. Street corner | Has placed third in three of four attempts versus similar |
RACE 7 ā The future of West Virginia
| 3. Yolo Manolo | Impressive debut; the only question is distance, as the best siblings of these have thrived around one turn |
| 1. Masked and mummed | The lone stakes winner in the field defeated the fillies at the Casey Memorial with a solid effort; took advantage of missing the trouble two when the favorite smelled the turn |
| 4. Noble statement | On improving |
RACE 8
| 4. Oddities | I had a good trip off the speed when I was running last in second place and projects to get that trip again |
| 9. Culminate | Good effort last at winning the speed duel, but not quite surviving to win; pulled ahead of others early today |
| 3. Rocket science | Horrible outing first off the claim, but goes back to the trip he won on before and falls in class |
