Former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira has a new opponent for the coming return of the promotion to Rio de Janeiro.
Charles Oliveira will make a relatively fast change to fight at UFC Rio next month. Oliveira’s return to the cage comes only a few months after a brutal knockout loss for Ilia Topuria on UFC 317.
Despite the great concerns of Daniel Cormier and others about the health of Oliveira, the former UFC light weight does not want to waste champion on returning in the lightweight title mix. Before he fell to Topuria, Oliveira earned recent victories over Michael Chandler and Beneil Dariush.
Oliveira was originally supposed to be opposed to Rafael Fiziev on 11 October in the UFC Rio -headliner. But Fiziev recently suffered an injury, which means that the UFC matchmakers strive for other options.

Oliveira publicly roasted some of the best UFC light weights for lowering a place opposite him in UFC Rio. But hours after the fiery rhetoric of Oliveira, and after rejecting a fight with a certain competition, it seems that the supplications of Oliveira have been answered.
As reported for the first time by MMA journalist Marcel DorffOliveira will fight against Mateusz Gamrot in the new UFC Rio Main Event. Gamrot has repeatedly called Oliveira in recent years, including earlier this week when Oliveira seemed to spot the idea that Gamrot was fighting.
Gamrot recently defeated Ludovit Klein in May at the UFC Apex. He has won four of his last five fights in general, with the only stain that comes in a split decision defeat Dan Hooker at UFC 305.
Oliveira vs. Gamrot comes at a time when the matchmaking for the next lightweight title fight is uncertain. Topuria repeatedly rejected the fight against the most important competition Arman Tsarukyan for his first title defense after he had been rejected with Paddy Pimblett in the cage on UFC 317.
Oliveira could possibly earn a no. 1 candidate fight with an impressive performance at UFC Rio. For Gamrot, who has been looking for a title shot for years, a victory would catapult him in the title discussion.
