Erling Haaland is perhaps on its way to becoming the biggest Champions League goalkeeper of all time.
The Manchester City striker just thought it was on Thursday again, on the way home of Phil Foden’s Brutal Lob to help his side beat Napoli at home 2-0.
That was his 50th goal in only his 49th Champions League performance, making him the fastest player who reached the milestone in the history of the competition.
The Norwegian currently surpasses some of the biggest attackers ever to adorn the game, such as Thierry Henry, Raul, Ruud van Nistelrooy and, of course, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The records just keep tumbling for Haaland, but there is one that he just missed. In 25 years and 59 days old, he is the second youngest player ever to score 50 goals in the Champions League. The only football player who did it in an earlier phase of his career was of course Messi, who was 24 years old and 284 days old when he reached half a century.
It is not common for even the best players to reach 50 goals in the Champions League in their mid -twenties, with Kylian Mbappe the only other player who does this. Even Ronaldo took until he was 28 to do this.
