Rangers crashed from the Champions League after an embarrassing 6-0 defeat against Club Brugge in the second stage of their play-off qualification, lost 9-1 to aggregate.
The side of Russell Martin already had a mountain to climb after a 3-1 loss in the first stage, but the eighth minute red card by Max Aarons ended their hope to qualify for the actual tournament.
Nicolo Tresoldi ended any early home nerves when he sent a donkey head past Jack Butland for five minutes in Jack Butland, and Rangers’ struggles in 2025-26 were further worsened shortly after Aarons was sent for the inexplicably dragging down from Christos Tzolis.
Hans Vanaken was powered in a header just after half an hour, but three goals in six minutes at the end of the first half brought Bruges out of sight.
Joaquin Seys scored a four -minute brace, finished on the rebound in the 41st minute before he was a stunning volley, only for Aleksandar Stankovic to nod in another stop in a stop.
With the damage already caused, Rangers went for a more defensive approach after the break, but they were broken again in the 50th minute, while Tzolis squeezed the backline to add a sixth.
Elsewhere Fenerbache missed a return to the Champions League after a loss of 1-0 for Benfica.
The side of Jose Mourinho was defeated by the first half of Kerem Akturkoglu, and every attempt at a fightingback was ended by Talisca’s 82nd minute Red Card, although Fenerbahce was unable to collect a shot on goal.

Copenhagen also achieved the European top match, following their first legs with Basel with a 2-0 win in the second stage and achieved 3-1 aggregated.
And Qarabag also pushed its way to the Champions League despite it lost in the second stage 3-2 against Ferencvaros, while trioming 5-4.
Data Debrief: Rangers are new low
Only twice before in Europe have Rangers suffered the big loss as on Wednesday, and it does nothing but the pressure on Martin stacking.
Rangers’ 6-0 loss for Real Madrid in 1963 and their 7-1 loss for Liverpool in 2022 are the other occasions, but they did nothing to help their business with Jan Breydel stadium.
They admitted 32 shots, with Bruges 16 who got on goal when they gathered 4.2 expected goals (XG).
Rangers collected only one shot on goal per contract from their three efforts. They have won only three of their 10 games this period in all competitions.
