CEO and MAM-of-3 asked how she does it all the answer is easy

“So you are a mother of three and a CEO of a company – how do you do it all?”

Courtney Hirsch, 38, that question has been asked countless times, but the secret is – not them. And she is not ashamed of saying that.

Hirsch, from New Jersey, is the CEO of Jomboy Media, a media company led by the maker by her brother. She is constantly juggling with deadlines, manages her team and makes decisions for the company, and that is before she even adds her family life.

With three children aged 7, 5 and 3, and a spouse with an equally demanding career, there is no doubt that life is a balance act. But that is why Hirsch thinks it is so important to ask for help. On the outside it is easy for people to assume that she does it all herself, but she told Newsweek That she “will close that quickly” when people ask how she does it.

“I think our generation of women sold the idea that we could have it all, but nobody told us it is impossible to do it yourself,” Hirsch said. “There are considerations, regardless of what you choose, and it is healthier to be about that in advance.”

Indeed, she makes no secret about the fact that she outsources many of the daily tasks that she cannot fit into her schedule. From a babysitter to help her children who do their dinner, lunches, and laundry four days a week, a housekeeper who comes once a week to clean and iron, and Hirsch’s mother who also looks at the children once a week and makes dinner for everyone.

Every Friday they have a family meal together and every Monday is a date night for Hirsch and her husband.

Getting help from other people is a game check for Hirsch and it has given her the energy to “completely appear” as a mother, wife and CEO. She is not only able to spend Quality Time with her husband and children without worrying about household tasks, but it has also given her clarity to continue Jomboy Media instead of feeling empty.

“There is a lot of feelings and shame to outsource things at home, especially for women. I grew up in a way in which this was not normal, so part of me still feels guilty because he does it differently,” Hirsch said.

She continued: “I know that there are people who will think that I am less a mother or wife, but that is precisely the story that I want to change. Having help you do not make any less, it means that you have invested in a support system, so that you can be more present for the people and work you love.”

In an attempt to prevent the outdated story, Hirsch shared a video On Tiktok (@Courthirsch) to mention all the ways in which she receives help as a busy, working mother. The caption next to the video is: “I don’t do it all”, and it went viral with more than 1.5 million views and 157,700 likes at the time of writing.

Before she placed the tap video, Hirsch felt nervous because he was so transparent because it is still taboo in many ways. Although many people have help, Hirsch said that it is often treated “like a dirty little secret” that they do not want to speak openly about.

“I was afraid that people would judge me, but hiding it creates a false image. We need honesty about the fact that nobody does this completely alone and if they are, they feel that they burn out,” she said she told Newsweek.

Despite her first concerns, Hirsch is so happy that she shared the video because it generated such a positive response. Many users of social media have been his hand to tell her that it saw them and lifted a weight of their shoulders.

Hirsch would hate other mothers to think that she is doing it all and that they fail in comparison. By being transparent, she hopes to show that there is no shame in outsourcing help and it is nothing to feel guilty.

Hirsch said: “Whether you lead a company, a mother stays at home, or somewhere in between, you don’t have to wear it all yourself. Questions or paying for help is not a failure, it is an investment in yourself and your loved ones.

“Women must especially let go of the debt, because you can’t be at your best if you run into the ground and try to make an impossible standard come true.”

In just a few days, Hirsch’s video achieved more than 3,400 responses to Tiktok, because users of social media thanked her for the fact that she was so transparent.

Among the reactions, one comment is: “Thank you for said this. Younger women must hear that they cannot always do it all – and that’s ok.”

Another tick user wrote: “From the ground of my heart as a team leader and a single mother: thanks.”

While another commentator replied: “You sound honest. We can’t all have it and people have to stop pretending we can.”
