CBS announced tonight that they cancel The late show with Stephen Colbert After the following season, it said that it was ‘purely a financial decision’.
Colbert said during the recording of the show on Thursday that he learned the day before about the cancellation of the show. In response to the Booing of the Studio Public, Colbert said, “Yes, I share your feelings.”
CBS is owned by Paramount, which is located in the middle of a $ 8 billion merger with Skydance. That deal has been delayed for months because President Trump has filed a lawsuit at CBS -ownership 60 minutes. On July 2, Paramount agreed to arrange that lawsuit and pay Trump $ 16 million.
During his show, broadcast on CBS, and streaming on Paramount Plus, Colbert criticized the scheme between Paramount and Trump and called it ‘a thick bribery’.
The Late Night Talk show premiered on 8 September 2015.
Colbert previously organized Comedy Central’s News Satire series The jacket report In which he depicted a character with the name Stephen Colbert, who parodies conservative experts. The jacket report was a spider -off for The Daily Show Hosted by Jon Stewart.
The late show Franchise will fold after 33 years, with the first 22 seasons organized by David Letterman.
