Castles is eyeing more Burnie glory

Fresh from a training and riding double in Burnie last Monday, and another win in Launceston last Sunday, Wesley Vale’s Charlie Castles will be looking to continue his winning ways in Burnie on Friday evening.

Castles will bring four runners from his stable to the eight-race card, and he will ride all four.

“It’s been a good few months and hopefully we can keep it that way,” says Castles, who gets a lot of help from his family in his daily operations.

“We have a good system and we work well as a team, and it’s a whole family effort.”

This season he has trained 21 winners from his 102 starters.

Always Tiger, in the opening match Limited to pacers with no more than two lifetime victories, under mobile starting conditions above 2180 metres, it is one that the trainer-driver considers one of his best winning chances on the card.

Vincent’s three-year-old daughter recorded her first victory in Burnie on October 13.

“She has a good chance again, there are a few in there that can go well, so she will, like every horse at Burnie, need a bit of luck.

“She’s still improving (just four starts) and her last run at Launceston was a good performance. She’s got a bit of toe and hopefully she can use that,” the trainer-driver said.

Another recent Burnie winner who will be taking Castles to the Wivenhoe Paceway is Tullah Girl, who is lining up 7 Tasmania pace (2180m).

The three-year-old daughter of American Ideal has won three of her fourteen starts, including a final start victory in her only standing start attempt on October 13.

“Hopefully she can get away and be there again.

“She was unlucky not to be in the lead. If she had pulled Alberio in, I think she could have stopped him earlier,” said the trainer-driver.

The Friday program starts at 4:54 PM.
