Carragher makes Mo Salah’s ominous prediction that Liverpool fans will beg for this not to happen

Jamie Carragher has made an ominous prediction about Mo Salah’s future at Liverpool that could send shivers down the spine of supporters.

The Egyptian has 18 months left on his contract at Anfield after being handed a two-year extension in April, but his status at the club has become a hot topic in recent days following his explosive interview following the Reds’ 3-3 draw at Leeds, in which he said he had ‘no relationship’ with Arne Slot.

That was the third of five consecutive games in which he did not start for LFC (he was left at home for the Champions League win over Inter Milan last week), and it is the first time in his eight-and-a-half years on Merseyside that he has been left out for so long at the manager’s discretion.

Carragher believes Salah will not be at Liverpool next season

Salah came off the bench in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday, his final game before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Carragher believes the 33-year-old will not serve out the remainder of his contract at Anfield.

Speaking Air sports’ MNF tonight the former Reds defender claimed: “I don’t see Mo Salah playing for Liverpool next season. The main thing in my mind is whether we will see Mo Salah from now until the end of the season.”

“We know he is going to AFCON, which will be ready in mid-January. It is clear he has a problem with the manager.”

Carragher then pleaded with Salah not to leave the Reds next month if the player is indeed considering that course of action.

Hopefully the fans’ adoration will get through to Salah

We know that we are somehow heading towards the final act of one of the greatest careers in Liverpool’s history. What we’re not sure about yet is exactly when the dreaded time to say goodbye will be.

The utopian scenario is that Salah fulfills the remainder of his contract and receives a euphoric farewell in May 2027. Conversely, we fear to think that the win over Brighton may well have been his last game for us before leaving the club in January on his return from AFCON.

We doubt his departure will be so abrupt, but a major hint could emerge in the weeks after he returns to Merseyside following his adventures with Egypt.

If the 33-year-old regains his starting position and returns to last season’s form, he will certainly be in no rush to leave Liverpool. However, if he remains out of the line-up, it is conceivable that he could part ways with us at the end of the current season.

The Reds supporters at Anfield on Saturday made it unmistakably clear that they still love Salah. Hopefully that unequivocal support from the terraces will resonate with the winger and he will remain committed to LFC for at least another 18 months, despite Carragher’s ominous prediction.
