Jamie Carragher received a special prize from Athletic Bilbao when he was named the 2025 One-Club Man, a prize that was previously won by people like Paulo Maldini, Carles Puyol and Ryan Giggs.
With 737 performances for Liverpool, Carragher played 16 years in the first Liverpool team and won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, two FA cups and three competition cups.
In a rare performance for a football player from the modern era, the Middenback never played for another team, came through the Reds Academy and retired in Anfield in 2013.
The former defender has now received a special prize for his performance, which is declared the 2025 One-Club Man, a prize that is awarded annually by Athletic Club.
He will receive the prize at the San Mames Stadium for the Athletic Club match against Girona on September 23.
The title has been handed annually since 2015 last Winners including Maldini, Giggs, Puyol and Billy McNeill.
“After winning the Champions League, being a man of one club is the biggest performance of my career,” Carragher told The Basque club.
“It was an honor when Athletic Club came into contact. Athletic is respected all over the world of football. They are a really unique club.”
Carragher referred to Athletic’s club policy to only players in the Basque region in field fields or those who have entered the area through an academy.
Despite the rule, they remain historically the third most successful club in Spain, behind only Real Madrid and Barcelona.
He continued: “I am very honored to receive this prize and to know that my name will always stay in addition to some great football players such as Paolo Maldini and Carles Puyol.
“As soon as I started playing for Liverpool, I knew I wanted to be a man with one club.
“I love the idea that when people ask:” For whom did you play? “You respond,” Liverpool “and nothing else. I was a supporter on the field.”
The Reds have only had eight men from one club in their history, with players such as Steven Gerrard, who gone towards the end of their career, do not count technically.
