The six-time Major winner earned the Spanish Top Athlete of 2025 award at Marca’s annual “Los 100 del Deporte” awards.

The El Palmar resident earned the honor through a public vote, receiving 44.37% and finishing ahead of MotoGP icon Marc Marquez, who claimed his ninth world championship title on Ducati, the first in years.
Marquez performed excellently, but Alcaraz went even further and embraced the best season of his career. The recognition reflects an exceptional year in which he established himself as the leading figure in Spanish sport.
The 22-year-old won two Major trophies in 2025. He defended the Roland Garros crown in that thrilling final against Jannik Sinner, after denying three match points. He also claimed his second US Open title.
The Spaniard thus became the youngest player with multiple Major titles on all three surfaces. Carlos enjoyed his career-best performance between April and October, having reached nine finals in a row and won seven trophies.
He did enough to keep Jannik Sinner behind him and secure his second year-end number. 1 honor at such a young age. Alcaraz is also the third youngest player with 50 weeks as number three in the world. 1, after Lleyton Hewitt and Jim Courier on the exclusive list.
In addition to trophies, Carlos also earned the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award. It underlined the balance between excellent competition and behavior that has made him one of the sport’s most admired figures worldwide.
With public support and on-court performance aligning, Alcaraz’s rise puts him at the center of Spanish sporting excellence heading into 2026. 1 is gearing up for a strong run at the Australian Open.
If he goes all out and lifts a trophy, Carlos will become the youngest owner of a Career Grand Slam, the ultimate tennis honor.
