Captains Mistress, running in heavy rain, showed blistering early speed to get going with stablemate Still Rollin sitting behind the leader while the other stablemate caught Demon Blue racing outside the leader.
But as she showed with her effortless heat win last week, Captains Mistress was unfazed by the heavy rain and warmed up for the task as she stayed well clear of her rivals on the final bend. In the end it was a romp with Captains Mistress of a different class as she sauntered to win over Still Rollin by over 60 feet while Demon Blue boxed in third place.

It was a training triumph for Jason Grimson as he prepared the first three alternates who, by the way, had all won their heats the previous week. Despite the harsh conditions, Captains Mistress ran the mile in 1.52.9.
Australians got a taste of Captains Mistress when they toured Queensland in mid-2025. She has only just joined Jason Grimson’s stable for the two undefeated performances.
She should be a serious contender for the Group 1 $200,000 Chariots of Fire for four-year-olds to be held at Menangle on March 7. But in addition, she will also be a strong challenger for the upcoming mare classics, where she will most likely clash with the country’s leading mare, Eye Keep Smiling.
