The Washington Capitals has announced this that striker Pierre-Luc Dubois will be sidelined for three to four months after undergoing surgery to repair injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles. The procedure was performed Friday and is expected to sideline Dubois for a significant portion of the season.

At the earliest, he will likely return to the lineup around February or March 2026.

The 26-year-old, acquired by Washington in the offseason, had been dealing with discomfort for several weeks before opting for surgery. The Capitals said his recovery timeline will be reevaluated as he progresses in his rehabilitation.

The loss of Dubois is a major blow to Washington at center as they move through the midseason.

Dubois suffered the injury on October 31 against the New York Islanders during a face-off fight. After losing his balance and falling awkwardly on the ice, he appeared to be in significant discomfort and required assistance leaving the rink, putting little weight on his leg as he exited.
