Hosts prove too much for Canadian Wolf Pack on Monday evening in Montevideo

It was the last and decisive match in swimming pool A at the Pan American Cup between the hosts, Uruguay and Canada. Both teams had defeated Paraguay and both had taken losses to the Tournament Head seed Argentina. The second place and a berth in the semi -final were on the line and the stands in Montevideo were absolutely full of this prime time matchup.

It was a dream start for the hosts when Captain Teresa Viana was a fine corner goal in the 7one minute. The crowd burst and the home team had Momentum immediately from the jump. The Dani Husar of Canada had a partial opportunity to be at the end of the first quarter with an opportunity to bind the game, but could not solve Maria Bate. Uruguay added another goal of the penalty corner of the Manuela Vilar Dragfilm just halfway, giving the Uruguayan side a two goal advantage during the 30 -minute break.

Canada would need at least three goals in the second half to secure victory and progress. With the target difference in favor of Uruguay, they only needed a draw to move forward. It was a long mountain for climbing for Canada who collected very few circle entries and no penalty corners during the game. Canada also placed herself in a difficult place with multiple cards in the second half, making a long task even bigger. For a foul that looked crispy against Paraguay to start the tournament, Canada was just outside the line in the tilt of tonight. They had Forrays in the Uruguay zone, but could not completely get that last touch to put the hosts on the back.

Uruguay fought through the shutters in the late stages, kept the ball away from their goal and ensured that Canada walks through the Lange Road for any attacking pressure. The Uruguay defense stood for a long time and Bate tormented a clean slate when the last Hooter went. The first half goals from Uruguay stood up and the hosts defeated Canada 2-zero. The atmosphere in the stadium was not to be denied when fireworks went off and thousands were looking forward to the victory.

It was a difficult out for the Canadian Wolf Pack, which now falls to the 5one/6one Match on Saturday. They will achieve a crossover -verbed victory when Trinidad & Tobago stopped on the eve of the event. Uruguay is moving forward and remains looking for a medal and a potential world cup qualification.
