While Israel is preparing to raise the conflict in Gaza, lawyers gathered in Vancouver in an attempt to press the federal government to speed up the efforts to help Palestinians reunite with family members in Canada.

Demonstrants gathered outside the offices of immigration, refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC) in Hornby Street, where they accused Ottawa of the failure of his promises to help those who are dealing with hunger and violence in Gaza.

Proponents of Palestinians have been organizing sit-ins outside IRCC offices throughout the country for weeks and demand the evacuation of family members and loved ones.

Mohammed Zaqout told Global News that his mother, three brothers and parents -in -law are stranded in Gaza, even though they are registered in the Canadian program.

“We did everything well and answered all the questions … Including information about scars and just a very humiliating process that was really uncomfortable and weird,” he said.

“And they received codes, those codes that were told us, are a kind of their way … So we waited for Canada to evacuate our family, to actually take them somewhere where they can do their biometrics and hopefully get their visa.”

In a statement, IRCC said that physical security screening can only be completed after people leave Gaza, because it has no formal presence on the territory.
