Cameron Smotherman collapses during UFC 324 Weigh-Ins, fight against Ricky Turcios canceled

The UFC 324 weigh-ins took a terrifying turn on Friday when bantamweight Cameron Smotherman collapsed while walking off the scale, prompting immediate concern from officials and medical personnel.

The incident ultimately led to his fight against Ricky Turcios being canceled, casting a sudden cloud over the promotion’s first event on Paramount+.

Smoorman (12-6) would find itself back in the octagon for the first time since last June. The bantamweight looked to snap a two-fight losing streak after dropping fights against Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simon.

The UFC has had its share of terrifying weigh-in moments, but few have been as alarming as this one, which saw a fighter plunging face first into the scale. Smotherman lay there for several minutes, an eternity in real time, before officials carried him away and loaded him onto a stretcher.

Not long after the incident, UFC commentator Jon Anik announced that Smotherman’s fight against Turcios had been canceled.

Two other fighters missed weight by 2.5 pounds, capping off a shaky first UFC weigh-in of 2026. Flyweight Alex Perez came in at 128.5 pounds for his fight against Charles Johnson.

Former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo missed at 138.5
