Busan Friday: Race-by-Race Preview (December 5)

The December race starts with a 9-race card in Busan on Friday from 11:15 AM to 6:00 PM. Here are the previews:

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

(3) FAST MAN was 4^e in both the Rookie Stakes and the Listed Gangseo-gu Mayor’s Trophy, and then 5^e of eight in the listed Gimhae Mayor’s. He returns to company today several orders of magnitude softer and will certainly make his breakthrough. (5) OASIS STAR is the lone debut maker. He has been through many trials, the last time two weeks ago when he was almost 2^i.e across the entire line, visible everywhere at the front. This is a great race to debut in. (8) SOMETHING ANDERS debuted in June with a 4^e place above 1200M. He hasn’t raced since and gave few clues at a trial in November, but should be a contender for a place. (2) NAIAD and (7) FLYING SHOOTER could be the best of a limited rest.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

(9) PORT MORE was an improved 3^rd at start number three over this distance on October 2^i.e when overcoming a wide draw to get up to speed. He can also overcome these and go one step further. (7) BEOLMAUI GANGJA ran a 3 twice in the summer^rd and a 2^i.e at 1000M. He was out for a few months then, but has been back at work since mid-October and looked well enough in the fair trial at the end of November and could be the first to pose a threat. (3) CAPTAIN WARRIOR was 6^e of eleven in a fast race over 1000M on his debut in early October. He is better recruited here, the step up can fit into the trip, and he can improve. (11) TRICK SHOT and (8) CARAT KING, the latter bleeding the last time, are others in the placement frame.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

Only mares in this girl. After a good test, (7) FLASH TO ME was a solid 4^e of ten on debut over 1200M in a similar filly to this, sitting back and running on. She should have benefited from the experience, the extra furlong can come in handy, and she can win here. (9) LAST ATTACK has increased in her last few starts, most recently out of the widest gate to run 3^rd over a mile on November 7^e with a few contemporary rivals behind it. She also ran reasonably well on this tour and is allowed to finish. (2) MOTHER BEAUTIFUL has been cold lately but is doing well to be here at the early speed and Munro riding for the first time makes her worth a shot at one way or better price. (12) GLORY WIND and (5) EOKSAE others who might bother the judges.

Busan Race 4: Handicap Class 5 (1400M) / KRW 45 million

(1) ACE SUN achieved its first victory at start two over 1200M on September 12^e before you run 2^i.e on the same trip during his first attempt at this level on October 24^e when you lead a large part of the route. He reaches 1400 meters for the first time, but from the inside gate he can use his early speed to run into the lead with ease and can go a long way in doing so. (5) DEIMOS came from well behind the pace and achieved his first victory at start three over this distance on October 31^st. He is higher in class, but has lost 3 kg and can measure up. (4) BEOLMA WINNER was sent off as favorite in this class and distance on November 7^e but after jumping in at the start it never played a role. We’ll draw a line through that and continue with his previous form and give him another chance. (3) RICH TREE and (12) SUCCESS COW others during the hunt.

Busan Race 5: Handicap Class 5 (1200M) / KRW 45 million

(12) CRYSTAL MULGYEOL made her girl asked about this distance for the fourth time on October 31^stracing the speed all the time. She is higher in class here, but weighs 2kg less and although she has the challenge of the widest fence, there is little to fear here. (4) DOCTOR SOLAR ran poorly at the last start on October 31^st when it was well supported, but later found to be somewhat lame. He has been back to work since November 21^st and can get another chance here to come back on trip. (9) STUKA was similarly somewhat crippled after a disappointing effort on November 7^e. He only missed a week of work and his form for that was easy to read. (10) WHITE OIL and (7) BLACK JILJU are potential placers on a good day.

Busan Race 6: Handicap Class 4 (1800M) / KRW 60 million

(3) TOHAMSAN TAEYANG finally gets this first victory on the fifteenth time he asked at the Class 5 level over a mile in October and has since run 2^i.e and 4^e in two outings in this class and distance, most recently on November 14^e. In this company he can be at or close to speed and he can win. If he finds one too soon, it could be (9) ANN BUNNY. She sits top of the class and trip after back-to-back second-place finishes at a mile and although she was beaten by Tohamsan Taeyang in the first of these, she has only raced six times and has plenty of room for more progress. (12) EOWADUNGDUNG was class and distance winner on October 31^st and while he’s a full 10 lbs in the weights, he’ll have plenty of backers to repeat. (5) SO GOOD and (8) KOHINOOR among others in the frame in a competitive race.

Busan Race 7: Handicap Class 4 (1200M) / KRW 60 million

(8) GRAND MORE won consecutive races over this distance in August and September before finishing fifth^e after leading when favorite on his first attempt in this class and distance on October 17^e. He was found lame in his front leg, but has been back to regular work since mid-November and can get another chance here under a light weight. (6) WIN WIN was 4^e on that October 17th^e race before following up with a 3^rd in this class and distance on November 7^e when you are in the lead for much of the way. With today’s handicap he has lost no less than 3.5 kg and can be a danger. (5) DOCTOR CITY is consistent and ends up with a close 3^rd lessons and distance learning on October 31^st and will be competitive again. (12) FLEX ENGINE and (4) BEOLGYO WANGCHO other place chances.

Busan Race 8: Handicap Class 3 (1600M) / KRW 75 million

(8) SEVEN DRAGON enters back to back 4^e posting over a mile in his last two, coming off the pace both times. He stays under light weight, and while he has some form to knock down a few here, he gets a weight swing and is able to win. He gets a 4kg weight swing on (9) BIG MUSICAL STAR, which was a winner on November 11^e when Seven Dragon was four^e. He led all the way that day and can brave the weight test to be back in the finish line. (2) YONGBI PAEWANG was way back in that race, but came in 3rd^rd in the KRA Cup Classic earlier this year and has a 2^i.e in this class and distance and can be close. (7) MAGNIFICENT JONES and (4) WIDAEHAN SEONTAEK are the other top contenders.

Busan Race 9: Handicap Class 3 (1400M) / KRW 75 million

(4) MAENGNYONG returned from almost five months off for run 2^i.e in this class and distance on November 9^eracing at pace. He weighs 3kg, but he draws well, and he is the best choice to come out on top here. (2) BINNANEUNGIL has been floating around the places in recent starts, getting off the pace every time and he can be a danger late on here. (1) WOLFS KING MAN did not do much on his return from an eight-month absence over this distance on November 9^e. He should have come in for that run and since he has more than 1400 million won, he can qualify here. (10) BLACK SPRING and higher in the last start winner class (6) WORLD LIST CAT are also very much in focus.
