September 24 – The scandal on the sanction of players and coaches for betting at competitions in Bulgaria’s top two divisions in the 2024/2025 season took a new turn.
Initially, the Bulgarian Football Association said that none of the 46 players and coaches were punished by Efbet Liga and Mr Bit Vtora Liga Liga in their own teams.
The 46 each received a fine of 10,000 Leva ($ 6,000) and suspended from competition until their fines were paid.
However, the research has now taken a different direction, after new information that indicated that some players had gambled in their own teams, so that she expressed concern about match fixing in the Bulgarian professional game.
A joint press conference by the Bulgarian Football Association (BFU), the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the General Directorate of the National Police (GDNP) were planned for Wednesday, but was postponed for the current investigation.
“About a year ago, talks began with the aim of improving the image of Bulgarian football. An inspection was initiated by the National Revenue Agency.
