The Milwaukee Bucks have not had any trade talks involving Giannis Antetokounmpo since the NBA’s unofficial trade window opened on December 15, according to ESPN.

Instead, the team operated as a buyer and explored ways to upgrade the roster rather than move the franchise star.

A clearer picture of Antetokounmpo’s future is expected in the coming weeks. If the losses continue, league sources say any potential change would require a more direct push from the two-time MVP, who is aware he is not seen as someone who will force his way out.

For now, the Bucks understand his frustration, but believe he wants to avoid being the bad guy in the situation.

Giannis recently returned from a three-week absence due to a calf injury and made an immediate impact, scoring 29 points in 25 minutes in a win over the Bulls.

Before the injury, talks had resumed between Antetokounmpo, his agent Alex Saratsis and the team about Milwaukee’s long-term direction.

Internally, the Bucks have discussed potential additions such as Zach LaVine, Malik Monk and Jerami Grant. While they like their current group, they believe reinforcements are needed to compete seriously.

Milwaukee is currently ranked 13th-19th, 11th in the East, and has struggled without Antetokounmpo, finishing 3-11th in games he has missed. Since winning the 2021 title, the team has advanced past the first round just once.

With limited resources available and increasing pressure to win, uncertainty persists. Still, head coach Doc Rivers has emphasized that Antetokounmpo has not requested a trade.
