The Milwaukee Bucks have made it clear they are exploring ways to strengthen their roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo, but their limited trade assets make it difficult to pursue true superstar upgrades.
As a result, the front office has focused on players who carry some risk – whether due to injury history, contract structure or fitness – but still offer meaningful upside.
One name that could come up in trade talks is New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray.
Milwaukee previously showed interest in Murray during his time with both the Spurs and Hawks, and that curiosity could return depending on how things develop this season.
Murray is expected to make his season debut sometime in January as he continues his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered on January 31 last year.
If he returns and is close to form, the Bucks could consider him as a potential target, especially given New Orleans’ depth at the position.
The Pelicans currently have rookie Jeremiah Fears handling the starting duties while veteran Jose Alvarado backs him up, making Murray somewhat expendable if the team chooses to reshuffle the roster.
Financially, Murray is making $30.8 million this season and is under contract for $32.8 million next year, with a $30.7 million player option for the 2027-2028 season.
While the stakes are significant, Milwaukee may see value in it if his production and health align with their championship window around Antetokounmpo.
