Buccaneers Coach speaks with strong criticism of Shilo Sanders

After he was unknown during the NFL concept of 2025, former Colorado Buffaloes Defensive Back Shilo Sanders eventually signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sanders is of course the son of NFL Legend Deion Sanders. He may not get that much hype or attention as the Rookie Quarterback Shedeur Sanders from Cleveland Browns, but Shilo has also made a name for himself.

Since he came to the Buccaneers, Sanders fights to earn a place on the schedule of 53 men. Nobody knows what the outcome of that fight will be, but he didn’t help himself much during the team’s preseason.

Against the Buffalo Bills In the last match of the preseason, Sanders was cast out of the game after throwing a blow. He was aggressively blocked by Bill’s tight end Zach Davidson and did not like the physicality that was shown against him.

Sanders took out and was quickly cast out of the game.

After the final of the preseason, Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles spoke about Sanders and did not stop his criticism of the Rookie decision.

“You can’t throw bumps in this competition,” Said bowles. “That is unforgivable. They are going to get you every time. I have to grow from that.”

It is clear that bad decisions such as those Sanders made can cost a player a place in the selection. It may not be and Bowles could decide to keep him in the neighborhood, but it certainly did not help his opportunities.

During the University Football season 2024 With Colorado, Sanders put together a strong year. He picked up 67 total tackles to join a bag, a forced junk and two defended passes.

There is no doubt that Sanders has the talent and potential to be an NFL defending back. He has to do work and he has to keep his patience under control, but there are reasons to believe that he can make a selection and become a role player.

Expect to hear more news about the future of Sanders with the Buccaneers in the near future. Bowles didn’t like what he saw from him against Buffalo, but that mistake alone cannot be kept against him to the point that he is a selection.
